14-Day Immersion into the Heart of Himalayan Honey Hunting

This is not a tour. This is not adventure travel.
This is a passage.

For fourteen days, you will disappear from the world you know. You will live among the Gurung people of Lamjung—the last guardians of a honey hunting tradition that predates written history.

You will learn their language of smoke and rope. You will climb to where the great bees guard their gold. And if the master hunter deems you ready— you will hang beside him on a rope ladder over the void, watching what no outsider has witnessed in centuries.

Few will ever do this.
Fewer still will understand what it means.

The Sacred Expedition is not for everyone.
It is for those who know that some experiences
cannot be purchased—only earned.

“We do not sell access to our hunters or their cliffs. We offer the rare privilege of being welcomed into a tradition that has refused the modern world for five hundred years.

This welcome is extended to four people per expedition. Two expeditions per year. Eight souls, chosen carefully.

You are applying to become one of them.”

— HIMALAYAN GIANT EXPEDITION COLLECTIVE

Itinerary

  • Days 1-2 | Kathmandu, Nepal

You arrive as a traveler. You leave as a pilgrim.
Kathmandu is where the expedition begins—not with climbing, but with understanding. These two days prepare your mind for what your body will experience.

  • Day 3 | Kathmandu to Lamjung

There is a moment, about four hours into the drive, when you round a bend and the Annapurna range fills your windscreen. People cry. I’ve seen hardened executives weep at what they’re seeing. The mountains don’t care bout your achievements or your resume. They only ask if you’re ready to feel small. Today you leave the road-accessible tourist circuits behind. A private vehicle carries you deep into Lamjung District—the ancestral homeland of Nepal’s legendary honey hunters. Over six hours, you will climb from Kathmandu’s urban sprawl into isolated highlands where Gurung tradition has remained unchanged for centuries. This is not a tourist arrival. There are no welcome banners or performances. The hunters will evaluate you with their eyes as you step from the vehicle. They are deciding whether you are worth their time. Fourteen days will prove whether they are right.

  • Day 4-7 | Gurung Village, Lamjung

You will not stay in a hotel. You will live in a hunter’s home. These four days immerse you in the rhythm of village life. You will eat what the hunters eat. Sleep when they sleep. Learn the ancient skills: rope-making, smoke preparation, bee communication, cliff assessment.

  • Day 8-11 | The Cliffs of Lamjung, Lamjung

This is why you came. This is what will stay with you forever You will trek to the base of the harvest cliff. Participate in the sacred puja ceremony. Watch the master hunter descend into the void surrounded by 40,000 bees. And if he determines you are ready—you may descend beside him.

  • Day 11-14 | Village & Kathmandu

Some experiences are too large to carry home immediately. They must be processed, honored, understood. Traditional healing practices, private sessions with the expedition psychologist, review of your documentary footage, and the ceremonial gifting of your personal harvest honey.
